So, my OTP for Bridal Mask, a.k.a. The drama that is eating my brain, are Kang To and Mok Dan. They are pretty much written by my id - he is the son of a revolutionary hero who is working for the Japanese. And he has just discovered that the girl he's been hunting, the girl he's had tortured is his first love, the one he risked his life for and who he thought he saw killed in front of his eyes. And he is trying to cope with that. And she is still fixated on him as her childhood love, and desperately holds on to the knife he gave her, hoping he would find her. But (without knowing who he really is), she (rightfully loathes the grown-up Kang To and tries to kill him repeatedly.
And at the end of the latest episode, she tries to stab him, wearing a mask, and he shoots her, only to remove the mask and see to his horror who it is he shot.
I mean!!!! Not even in wuxia have I seen something this gloriously fucked up!
I can see why people ship Kang To and Rie - they are very similar in that their damage has made them turn to the Japanese to take out their anger at the revolution. And I can see why people ship Mok Dan with Shunji - for one, he is the only non-headcase among the male cast. But it's Kang To/Mok Dan for me, to the bitter (and I am sure it will be bitter) end.
